Broken Arrow Police Department investigators said Jacob Haas, 26, fatally shot his 21-year-old brother, 76-year-old grandfather and 55-year-old aunt, before turning the gun on himself. Preliminary autopsy results show Jacob died from a self-inflected gunshot wound.
Broken Arrow police said Monday they were not releasing the victim’s names “out of respect for their families.” According to publicly available records, the grandfather who died was Arthur Haas and the aunt who perished was Ange Adkins.
Police said there was no domestic violence history at the home prior to the incident. Official autopsy results are still pending and police said the incident remains under investigation.
A GoFundMe has been organized by Sara Snyder to help Arthur Haas’ daughter, Jennifer Atwell, with funeral expenses. Snyder said the family home was “once filled with love and laughter. The circumstances surrounding this devastating loss remain unclear and difficult to fathom.”
For those involved in a domestic violence situation, there is a nationwide hotline: (800)-799-7233. Additionally, 988 is Oklahoma’s 24/hour suicide and crisis lifeline that can connect those in need with trained behavioral health professionals to seek help.
