The event is a back-to-school tradition for many North Tulsa families. It allows parents, educators and the community to engage with one another, providing much-needed school supplies to students and other beneficial items free of charge (while supplies last).
“Do you remember the thrill of being a child and receiving all new school supplies for the first day of school?” said Dr. Lana Turner-Addison, president of NTEDi. “How about the joy of having fresh, unbroken crayons or a new backpack? More than 80 percent of students in North Tulsa come from households living below the poverty line, and they deserve to experience the same enthusiasm for school.”
NTEDi says the Back-2-School Extravaganza is a great way for families to prepare for the upcoming school year in a fun and informative setting. The event promises an afternoon filled with fun, insightful guest speakers, informational booths, entertainment, resources, and food will be served. It includes guest speakers: Dr. Lana Turner-Addison, NTEDi President; Dr. Ebony Johnson, Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent; Dwayne Gardner, Tulsa Technology Center, and Lisa Anderson, Oklahoma Caring Van.
The sponsors for this year’s Back-2-School celebration include Family and Children Services, Tulsa Public Schools, George Kaiser Family Foundation, Oklahoma Caring Van, Pine Premier Childcare, and Tulsa Technology Center.
