(TULSA, Okla.) A cold front made its way south over west central Arkansas and southeast Oklahoma Sunday. Cooler air behind this cold front, combined with increasing clouds and rain chances beginning late Sunday night into Monday, will likely yield record low max temperatures for a few locations across northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas for Monday. The clouds and rain will spread south into Tuesday and will more than likely lead to another day of record low max temps, this time over much of the area. Elevated instability gradually increases from the southwest on Tuesday so thunder chances go up by then. A warm front is expected to lift north across the region Tuesday night into Wednesday, though there is some uncertainty as to how quick this will occur. There will be a chance of elevated storms mainly on the cool side of the advancing warm front. By Wednesday afternoon, we will quickly flip back to warm and humid in the warm sector. Dryline storm activity out west, or what it will evolve into, may spread into eastern Oklahoma Wednesday evening with some severe potential. By Thursday, a frontal boundary to our north will initiate storms that will likely grow upscale into a complex and plunge south into our area Thursday night. After that, uncertainty increases considerably with mesoscale details becoming more important in a weaker flow regime aloft. Monday Rain likely, mainly between 8am and 2pm.
