Broken Arrow officer shot in the line of duty

(TULSA, Okla.) OFFICER SHOT: Our friends with the Broken Arrow Police Department need a little help. From Broken Arrow Police Department: On May 17, 2020, Broken Arrow Police Officers were dispatched to a disturbance with a firearm at a residence in the 2600 block of W. Galveston St. During the investigation, a Broken Arrow Police Officer was shot in the arm. He is being treated at an area hospital and the injuries are believed to be non-life threatening. Officers are currently looking for an involved party in the disturbance. Hayden Ross Payne, a 29-year-old white male, is being sought for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Violation of a Protective Order. He was last seen leaving the area in a black Chevrolet Equinox. Hayden Payne’s vehicle is a Black 2014 Chevrolet Equinox with Oklahoma Tag EJD598. The on-going investigation revealed that Hayden Payne came to the residence at ‪2648 W. Galveston Street‬ and shot at Dean Black in front of the residence. Black retreated to inside the house and Payne fled the scene in the black Chevrolet Equinox. Our officer approached the residence and knocked on the door. Black fired shots from inside the house, through the closed door, striking our officer in the arm. The officer found a position of cover and applied a tourniquet to control his bleeding. He was quickly transported to a local hospital, where he is currently in stable condition. Dean Clayton Black, a 58-year-old male, has been arrested for Assault with a Deadly Weapon for the assault on the Officer. He will be transported and booked into the Tulsa County Jail.
