City seeking partners for Financial Empowerment Center Launch

(TULSA, Okla.) The Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Equity (MORE) and Goodwill Industries of Tulsa are asking area organizations to become partners to help launch the City’s first Financial Empowerment Center (FEC). Interested organizations should fill out a short application by June 5, 2020, which can be found herehttps://www.cityoftulsa.org/media/13182/final-call-for-partners-application.pdf The City is seeking a minimum of eight partners to launch the program. The FEC, currently in the planning phase funded by a grant from the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund, will provide one-on-one financial counseling to Tulsans at no cost. The FEC is expected to launch in late 2020. There are a variety of ways organizations can become partners, each described in more detail below. Though there is no funding involved in the partnerships, becoming a partner supports Tulsans with the tools and knowledge they need to thrive. Referral Partner - Provides a warm hand off from clients in their programs to the FEC. Referral Partner staff will attend training to fully understand the FEC's work and will attend up to two additional yearly trainings. The total training commitment is approximately 10 hours per staff member per year. Co-Location Partner - Provides a regular work space for a Financial Counselor to see clients and will provide the counselor with general office supplies, equipment (office or private meeting space, Wi-Fi, copier access) and clerical support. Co-Location Partner staff will attend training to fully understand the work of the FEC and will attend up to two additional trainings each year. The total training commitment is approximately 10 hours per staff member per year. Integration Partner - Fully integrates the Financial Counselor into the work of its program. In this partnership, clients will attend counseling sessions as a natural progression of the program. The Financial Counselor may also be co-located with the Integration Partner. As part of the Resilient Tulsa strategy, the City of Tulsa is embedding financial empowerment programs and policies into City services to improve individual and family financial stability. MORE has convened an Advisory Board comprised of businesses, nonprofits, City departments, financial institutions, and other organizations from across Tulsa to inform the development of the FEC.
