(TULSA, Okla.) Hot and humid weather will continue Friday. As a result, a Heat Advisory has been issued for parts of eastern Oklahoma and west- central Arkansas and will be in effect from noon to 7 p.m. Friday:
Counties include: Crawford, Franklin, Sebastian, Osage, Washington OK, Nowata, Craig, Pawnee, Tulsa, Rogers, Mayes, Creek, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Wagoner, Muskogee, and Sequoyah
Heat indices of 105 to 107 are expected within the advisory area Friday afternoon. Locations outside of the advisory area will still see heat indices ranging from 95 (mainly across the higher terrain of AR) to 105. Be sure to take extra precautions if you plan on being outdoors.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Wear light weight and loose-fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments.
Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, call 911.
