Coronavirus, Tulsa COVID-19 Update – June 9 Situation Update

(TULSA, Okla.) To date, the Tulsa Health Department (THD) has confirmed 1,261 positive COVID-19 cases in Tulsa County. 957 residents have recovered and 61 have died. Mayor Signs Updated Civil Emergency Executive Order Mayor G.T. Bynum has signed an updated Civil Emergency Executive Order that mirrors the State’s OURS Plan and reflects current COVID-19 modeling in the Tulsa area. The updated OURS Plan encourages bars to practice enhanced sanitation and social distancing measures. Dr. Bruce Dart, THD, is leading an effort with local business owners to come up with best practices for bars in the City of Tulsa. Interested parties should visit the Tulsa Health Department website for specific guidance as it becomes available. Utility Bill Updates The City has resumed utility bill collections as of June 1, 2020. For customers who haven’t, yet, it’s asked they set up a payment plan with the City to ensure there are no service interruptions moving forward. Tulsa Parks Updates Last week, Tulsa Parks started reopening facilities, community centers, nature centers, splash pads, playgrounds and basketball courts. To ensure safety, masks and temperature checks are required at all community centers. Additionally, more than 50 hand sanitizer stations have been built, as well as sneeze guards at each community center to ensure the protection of staff and patrons.
