(TULSA, Okla.) A mid-level ridge axis over Kansas/Oklahoma/Texas was squeezed from both sides Sunday, both from an upper low/trough digging over the eastern contiguous United States, and from a large upper storm over the Pacific Northwest and broad trough over the western contiguous United States. A weak surface ridge is in place over the southern/southeastern US, while lee side troughing exists over the central High Plains. A bit better dewpoints are observed over the region and especially over the higher terrain areas compared to previous days. There is a signal in the data that a repeat could happen again Monday afternoon, and thus have added low precipitation focused in the about the same area. Outside of the low mainly terrain induced storm chances, expect hot and dry weather to continue with afternoon highs about the same each day in the low to mid 90s with mid-level ridging persisting. Due to the upper low over the eastern US and the resulting surface ridging between here and the Gulf Coast, humidity levels will remain in check during the heat of the day, and thus no heat headlines are anticipated. Overnight lows will be changing more than the highs, trending upward especially toward the end of the week and next weekend when richer Gulf moisture begins to flow north back into the region. There is a slight chance of precipitation next weekend. Monday Sunny, with a high near 94. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Monday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 70. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
