Tulsa sergeant passes away from shooting injuries

(TULSA, Okla.) One of two police officers shot in the line of duty Monday passed away on Tuesday, the Tulsa Police Department said. Sergeant Craig Johnson was shot by a suspect during a traffic stop early Monday morning. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds, including gunshot wounds to his head. Chief Wendell Franklin said doctors and nurses tried everything they could to save his life but he passed away from his injuries Tuesday morning. His family made the decision to donate his organs. Johnson leaves behind a wife, two parents and two young boys. Franklin delivered the Purple Heart medal to Johnson and his family Monday night. Johnson joined TPD in 2005. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2015. Officer Aurash Zarkeshan remains in critical condition.
