Stolen Vehicle/Pursuit Arrest

On 08/29/2018 at 0845 hours Officers W. Bigelow and J. Harmon responded to a citizen following his stolen truck near 2100 S. Memorial Dr. Motorcycle Officer T. Helm caught up to the vehicle several minutes later at 1500 S. 77th E.A. where he initiated a short pursuit. The suspect drove 6 blocks west to the Leisure Manor Apartments at 6951 E. 15th St where he drove over the grass and abandoned the truck in the parking lot. As units arrived to set up a perimeter Officer Harmon located the 16 year old driver walking near 6900 E. 16th St. A witness positively identified him as the driver of the stolen vehicle and the victim also identified him as the original truck thief. The juvenile was transported to CIC and then JBDC where he was booked for misdemeanor eluding, larceny of a motor vehicle, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
