Derrick Hughey, 25, was arrested Sunday for felony second degree murder and larceny from a person in connection to the death of Stephen Cook, 54.

On Wednesday, at about 8:10 p.m., officers responded to a man down in the parking lot of the Ryan's Convenience Store on South Braden. Cook was found lying down on the sidewalk unresponsive.

He died at the hospital.

After reviewing video from the area, it appears that Cook was talking to a person in a SUV and the SUV backed out of a spot dragging Cook a short distance. Cook stood up after the SUV left and walked to the sidewalk, where he collapsed and died.

The SUV did not appear to run over Cook and we are awaiting word from the Medical Examiner's Office to find out exactly what killed Cook. However, Cook did have some sort of satchel and this is what was taken by Hughey and caused Cook to be dragged.

Hughey is being held on $504,000 bond at the Tulsa County Jail.

He is due in court Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing.
