It will be rather cool Monday, with a slower warmup in areas with clouds in the a.m. High pressure will build across the area overnight with lows falling into the upper teens and 20s for Tuesday morning. There will be a brief warmup on Wednesday, before another cold front arrives in western Oklahoma by Thursday morning.

Global models differ in the track and amplification of the upcoming winter storm system (which is pretty typical at this time range). The main message is that will be a mix of wintry precipitation starting Thursday night through Saturday across eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. It does still appear that a transition zone of wintry precipitation will set up across parts of northeast Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas, with rain across southeast Oklahoma and portions of western Arkansas.

Snow and ice amounts will both depend on the track of the upper storm system, and the thermal profiles - for example, how much sleet mixes in with snow.

Those with travel plans late this week should continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

The winter storm will clear out from west to east Saturday night with cold temperatures on Sunday.
