(TULSA, Okla.) As of early Sunday evening, a cold front was located moving slowly to the southeast. Scattered to numerous showers continue to blossom across southeast Oklahoma and western Arkansas with isentropic lift occurring over the shallow cold airmass. The front will continue to make slow but steady progress southward before getting hung up in the higher terrain of southeast Oklahoma and western Arkansas later Sunday night. The boundary will focus heavier and more widespread shower and even thunderstorm development across mainly far eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas Sunday night and into early Monday. The best chance for any embedded thunderstorm activity will most likely be after midnight as a surface low migrates northward along the cold front across southeast Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas. The strongest storms could be capable of producing small hail. The front will eventually clear the entire area, leaving a cloudy, cold day for most areas Monday. The front will make a quick return northward Tuesday and Tuesday night, with a period of well above normal temperatures and more humid conditions to follow for the middle of the week. Primarily northeast Oklahoma with at least an isolated thunderstorm chance Tuesday night in association with a relatively weak but evident low level jet. With the front solidly north of the forecast area Wednesday, warm and dry weather should prevail into Thursday. The pattern will remain active into next weekend, with another strong cold front on tap for Friday into Saturday. Another chance of showers and thunderstorms will accompany the front Thursday night and into Friday. Temperatures will be below normal during this time frame, but just how below normal remains to be seen. Standard deviations in the temperature guidance are high, leading to a corresponding level of uncertainty.
