OHP seeks information on suspect in fatal police pursuit

(DURANT, Okla.) Around 12:45 a.m. on October 22, the Durant Police Department began a pursuit of a Nissan pickup. The pursuit left Durant and traveled north on State Highway 48 thru Bryan, Atoka and Johnston County. At the intersection of State Highway 48 and 48A in the community of Coleman, the driver of the Nissan truck, Shawn Baumgardner, struck another vehicle, killing Glenn Trammell and critically injuring Verna Lee Trammell, both of Coleman. Durant Police Department was the only agency involved in the pursuit. The OHP Traffic Homicide Unit is conducting the criminal investigation. There were no troopers involved in the pursuit. Baumgardner is in police custody in Plano, Texas and OHP is seeking a 1st-degree Murder Warrant in Johnston County. OHP Traffic Homicide Investigators are asking the public for assistance with the following: Anyone with knowledge of Shawn Baumgardner's activities in the past 24 hours Businesses and residents along the pursuit route to check video surveillance systems that may have captured the pursuit
