The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) will soon require a new identity verification security feature as part of the online claims and application process. We’re told claimants will need a valid photo ID and a photo of their face to begin complete it. Optional online identity verification began Tuesday evening, and beginning on November 12 it will be required. According to a notification sent out by the OESC on Tuesday, “Once you begin, you will have 30 minutes before your session times out,”. If you do not complete the process within the 30-minute window your progress may be lost, and you will have to start over. Please note that if you do not verify your identity by November 12th, your unemployment benefits will be paused until verification takes place.” People can take the steps necessary to verify their identity by logging into their account on UI.ok.gov and using the VerifyOK feature. We’re told claimants must identity using the new process even if they have sent in a copy of their ID in the past. The online verification tool can only accept state-issued driver’s licenses, state-issued identification cards, resident cards/green cards and passports.
