(LANSING, Mich.) Wearing a mask has become a part of everyday life during the COVID-19 pandemic. To encourage Michiganders to continue wearing their masks, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) will be giving out 3.5 million free KN95 masks. The distribution of the masks is part of the state's "Mask Up, Mask Right" campaign. Local health departments, local MDHHS offices, Area Agency on aging offices and other community organizations will be handing out the free masks to Michigan residents. "Wearing the right kind of mask is important," said Robert Gordon, the director of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. "Today's distribution of effective masks will help more Michiganders limit the spread of COVID to save lives and get back to normal sooner." According to MDHHS there are three types of masks Michigan residents should be wearing. Those include: three-layered washable cloth face coverings, three-layered disposable masks, or KN95 masks. If you are in need of a mask you can call Michigan's COVID-19 hotline at 888-535-6136 or visit Michigan.gov/MaskUpMichigan to find a distribution site.
