(TULSA, Okla.) Temperatures climbed above freezing Sunday, but should fall back below freezing overnight across the area as more easterly flow develops, with the potential for light freezing drizzle. As a stronger upper wave approaches Sunday night, precipitation will begin to increase in coverage across northeast Oklahoma with scattered areas of light freezing rain developing in addition to the ongoing patchy freezing drizzle. Some light ice accretions will be likely north of I-44 overnight into Monday morning with a few hundredths of precipitation possible. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued until noon Monday. Slick spots on untreated and elevated roadways can be expected. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. Low temperatures remain tricky in the Tulsa metro with the potential for southern portions of the county to briefly climb above freezing this evening. Still, the freezing rain/freezing drizzle threat appears high enough overnight into Monday morning to also include in the advisory, especially across northern portions of the county. The surface boundary will remain quasi-stationary before the stronger push of colder air Monday afternoon into Monday night. A secondary upper wave will approach from the west Tuesday night into Wednesday with a few lingering areas of light freezing drizzle, as shallow cold air-mass again stalls in the higher terrain of southeast Oklahoma/northwest Arkansas. A stronger push of Arctic air is expected late week into next weekend, with highs in the 20s Thursday through Sunday. Monday A chance of rain before noon, then a chance of drizzle after noon.
