VNN announces launch of new app

(NATIONWIDE) A new platform for verified news and information is on the way. 

The big announcement came during Verified News Network’s (VNN) second virtual town hall in the “Repairing the Divide” series Wednesday night.

VNN’s new platform will be the product of more than three years of study and research into social media designed exclusively for verified news, including market research conducted through PlugIn, VNN’s first phase application available for iPhone and Android. 

The new VNN app is being developed as a progressive web app (PWA), and will replace VNN’s PlugIn app as the social news media company’s content management system. 

PWAs function much like mobile phone apps. In fact, people can even save them onto their phone’s home screen like a mobile phone app. 

Users will be able to register as a citizen, official, expert, journalist or affiliate. Once registered, users can customize their news feeds and location preferences and personalize their user profile. 

Users will also be able to upload news stories, comment on news stories, and like and dislike content. 

Content will be moderated by AI filters and a new community flagging system. 

People who have registered accounts through VNN’s PlugIn app will be able to log into the new VNN app with the same email and password. 

Development of the new VNN app began on March 1. It is expected to go live at the end of May.
