(BINGHAMTON, N.Y.) A local teen has taken full advantage of her time in quarantine by launching her own business. Fourteen-year-old Lillian Williams started a line of homemade soaps and candles. “Lilly’s Luxuries” began back in 2020 when she decided to turn her hobby into future profit.

Using her birthday money and weekly allowances for start-up funds, Williams uses a variety of flowers and real oats in her soaps. She said her personal struggle with eczema has helped her with the production of her line.

“I have eczema on my legs and arms so certain soaps break me out, but I noticed soaps and lotions that have oats in them work best on my skin,” Williams said.

Lilly’s Luxuries made it’s first official sale at a community giveaway hosted by a local organization in which they allowed her to set up a table. Since then, Williams said she sets up tables in her community whenever she gets a chance.

Lilly’s Luxuries has also been featured on the “Support Black Business 607” Facebook page, which has allowed customers to order soaps and candles online.

You can find her business on Instagram and TikTok @Lillysluxuries2020.
