25 more manufacturing jobs coming to Northern Michigan

(MANISTEE COUNTY, Mich). The Village of Copemish, located in Manistee County, will be getting 25 more manufacturing jobs. 

Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MDEC) announced Wednesday that a grant from Jobs Ready Michigan will help support the job creation at M R Products. 

“We are proud to support the continued growth of M R Products, including these 25 new manufacturing projects in Copemish," said Governor Whitmer. 

M R Products, which produces plastics chains that serve as visual barriers and help with crowd control has already expanded its workforce by more than 40 percent in the last year as well as tripled its revenue. 

The manufacturing company is expanding its operations to another building in the Village of Copemish which will create the 25 additional jobs. 

M R products currently has 77 employees. 

The Jobs Ready Michigan Grant is worth $200,000 and will help with recruitment and job training for the expansion. 

This Jobs Ready Michigan Grant will enable M R Products, Inc. to continue to invest in its people, particularly in training for skilled manufacturing trades,” said MR Products Chief Operating Officer Ryan Schultz. “After 61 years in business, more than 50 of which have been in the village of Copemish, the expansion of 2021 places the Company in a position to work more efficiently and effectively and hire more northern Michigan residents. We are extremely excited and grateful to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for its award of this generous grant.” 

M R Products is investing $4.2 million for the expansion.
