(TULSA, Okla.) Elevated convection continued to press east into northeast Oklahoma early Sunday morning despite all model data indicating imminent dissipation of the activity. It is likely that scattered elevated convection will continue across northeast Oklahoma and perhaps even into far northwest Arkansas until the low-level jet subsides later Sunday morning.

Redevelopment Sunday afternoon will likely be isolated at best, with a better chance Sunday evening and overnight across northeast Oklahoma and far northwest Arkansas. A few strong to severe storms will be possible, especially Sunday evening.

The need for heat headlines hinges on how long convection and associated cloudiness lingers, and with the uncertainties, will hold off for now and let the day shift monitor the trends.

Heat headlines will become more likely Monday and beyond, as afternoon temperatures continue to slowly climb. A cold front looks to move into the area by Friday or Saturday, but shower and thunderstorm chances appear rather limited with the front. Some minor cooling is expected by next weekend, but it looks to be modest at best.
