Suspect in hit and run turns himself in
(TULSA, Okla.) UPDATE: On Tuesday around 5:00 p.m., a maroon Chevy Suburban hit a 7-year-old child in the road near the South Haven Manor apartments in west Tulsa. The Suburban fled the scene.
The child was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, including a brain bleed, ruptured ear drum, broken pelvis, broken femur, and numerous lacerations.
25-year-old Devin Ferguson turned himself in around 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. He admitted that he was the driver of the Suburban, and he knew he had hit the child. He said he left the scene because he was afraid he would be in trouble.
Ferguson was arrested for leaving the scene of an injury accident.
His bond was set at $20,000. Jail records show he bonded out early Thursday morning.
This is an arrest, not a conviction.
ORIGINAL STORY: On Tuesday around 5:00 p.m., the maroon Suburban pictured hit a 7-year-old in the road near the South Haven Manor apartments in west Tulsa. The driver did not stop after hitting the child.
The child was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The vehicle appears to be a Suburban, late 90s model, with front end damage from a previous collision. It is maroon/dark red with faded paint on the hood. It does not appear to have a license plate.
