(TULSA, Okla.) The Tulsa Police Department’s Riverside Division and Gilcrease Division Traffic Units will focus on construction zone violations in areas where there is on-going road construction in their respective areas of operation (Riverside – West of S. Sheridan Rd. & South of E. 11th St., Gilcrease – North of E. 11th St.) during the month of January.

Riverside Division and Gilcrease Division Traffic Unit Officers will be randomly monitoring all construction zones in their respective divisions.  A citation issued for violations within a construction zone can range from $150 to up to $500 and/or jail time; NO WARNINGS will be issued.

The Riverside Division and Gilcrease Division Traffic Units reminds drivers to remain alert, refrain from using all electronic communication devices and to pay special attention to all warning signs in construction zones.

Traffic violations in construction zones are a leading cause of serious injury and fatality collisions in work zones.

There are numerous areas throughout the Tulsa area under active road construction; it is the Riverside Division and Gilcrease Division Traffic Units’ goal to reduce the frequency and severity of serious injury and fatality collision within construction zones.
