(TRAVERSE CITY, Mich.) It's been more than two years since Pride Week took place in Traverse City.

The weeklong line up of events last occurred in June of 2019 and was cancelled in 2020 because of COVID-19.

This year Up North Pride is hosting the weeklong schedule of events from October 11th to October 17th.

The celebration will return with three new events: a comedy show at Short's Brewing in Elk Rapids on Friday night, a silent disco on Saturday night, and a Big Gay Brunch on Sunday morning.

"I'm super excited to go to the Big Gay Brunch on Sunday and just to see folks celebrating and eating food from local vendors and just having a nice time," said Anna Dituri, the secretary for Up North Pride and the advocacy co-chair for the group.

Dituri says this year's pride week also coincides with National Coming Out Day which is October 11th.

Other events include the pride ride, sign making party, and visibility march.

Dituri says she's excited to be bringing the event back this year.

"It's super important because we, as one of the largest 2S LGBTQIA+ communities in Northern Michigan, we feel we're tasked with providing a space for folks at least once a year to just know that they're not alone, and we have focused most of our energies into a pride week," said Dituri.

You can find the full list of events for pride week on the Up North Pride website
