Forum to be held for Grand Rapids Police Chief Candidates
(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.) The City of Grand Rapids is looking for its next police chief and the candidates are expected to be announced this week.
Last week, the city announced that a public forum with the candidates will be held on January 19th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
During the forum, the candidates for police chief will answer questions from the public.
Members of the community will have the chance to ask questions in person or on the Facebook and YouTube livestream chats.
If you want to submit a question in advance of the forum you can do that at this website.
The deadline to submit a question ahead of the forum is January 17th at 5:30 p.m.
Anyone who does not have access to the internet can submit a question in advance by calling this number: 616-456-3000.
The city has been looking for its next police chief since last fall and the position has received interest from 35 law enforcement professionals from around the country.
“While it is ultimately my responsibility to hire a chief of police, residents will continue to have a voice in the process of selecting our next chief,” said City Manager Mark Washington.
If you would like to attend the forum in person it will be happening at City Hall at 300 Monroe Ave. NW on the 9th floor in the city commission chambers.
After the forum, there will be a web survey where Grand Rapids residents can share what they think of the candidates.
