(Binghamton, NY) The Broome County Urban League is on a mission to educate small business owners about the resources available to them.

On Monday, the league held their inaugural “Let’s Make Small Businesses a Big Deal” roundtable discussion, the first of many in the new series, according to Broome County Urban League CEO Jennifer Lesko.

Several small business owners and Broome County officials were present for Monday's discussion, which took place in downtown Binghamton.

Topics included diversity in county positions, proper distribution of grant funds, and resource education.

Broome County Executive Jason Garner said discussions with minority business owners in the community simply have not happened and agreed that changes need to be made.

Entrepreneurs in attendance told VNN they left the meeting feeling hopeful that this is the beginning of a much-needed shift in the relationship between the county and local Minority-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBEs).

If you or someone you know is interested in being part of a roundtable discussion, please call the Broome County Urban League at 607-723-7303
