(NATIONAL) True Self World opened its doors in Meta’s Horizon Worlds this week, a digital offering part of Mastercard’s “Your True Self is Priceless” campaign.

It’s described as a free, social experience that allows people to explore, connect, and celebrate their true selves in virtual reality.

People can enjoy wearables, play games, and attend large and small gatherings with others.

Members of the LGBTQIA+ community are also asked to share open letters to their younger selves on Mastercard’s Instagram and TikTok pages, which may then be featured in True Self World’s digital museum and other places.

True Self World was built by LGBTQIA+ world creators RhondaX and Skitter_, the latter of whom helped VNN with our own world The VNC in Horizon Worlds.

The new world is part of Meta’s Pride World hub and builds on Mastercard’s launch of True Name back in 2019, which allows transgender and non-binary cardholders to display their chosen name on their Mastercard.

Both efforts are designed to provide space for authenticity of self and reduce conflict with real world constraints.

To take part in the VR experience, simply throw on your headset and search “True Self World” in Horizon Worlds.
