(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.) One person is in custody after four assault style rifles were found during a search on Wednesday.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says officers executed the high-risk search warrant on Union Ave SE.

The suspect is facing multiple charges including carrying a concealed weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, felony firearm, felony resisting and obstructing, malicious destruction of property.

They are currently at the Kent County Jail.

The Grand Rapids Police Department says the suspect was also wanted in other jurisdictions for weapons and domestic violence charges.

“This is an example of the proactive approach GRPD is taking to combat gun violence in our community,” said Chief Eric Winstrom. “Since January 1, we have recovered over 300 illegally possessed guns. Getting these guns off the street is an important step in reducing violence and keeping our community safe.”
