Watermelon Festivals

Statewide / Monthlong

Escape the summer heat with a cool, juicy slice of watermelon at these much-loved events across the state. These family-friendly festivals feature activities like competitive runs, seed spitting contests, carnival rides and, of course, delicious slices of watermelon.  

Mountain View Free Fair

Mountain View / August 4-6

Attend one of the oldest community fairs in the state in the small town of Mountain View. Established in 1915, this celebration includes carnival rides, live entertainment, games, arts and crafts, exhibits and tasty fair food.

FLY Film Festival

Enid / August 5-6

Enjoy two days of independent movies in downtown Enid. See dramas, comedies, short films and more by local and national filmmakers, plus check out workshops, meet and greets and more throughout the weekend.

Shop 66 Saturdays

Tulsa / August 6

Travel along all 28 miles of the Mother Road in Tulsa to shop at local businesses, attend special events, enjoy pop-ups and take advantage of special deals. The first 100 shoppers will also score a limited edition tote bag with some swag during this tax-free weekend shopping extravaganza.

Will Rogers & Wiley Post Fly-In

Oologah / August 13

Celebrate the lives of two of Oklahoma’s favorite sons at this thrilling aviation event. Bring the kids to the famed Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch and watch more than 100 small aircraft land on the 2,000 ft. grass airstrip. This annual event also features food trucks, a classic car show and Cherokee storytelling.

Blanchard Bluegrass Festival

Blanchard / August 19-20

Enjoy some of Oklahoma’s finest regional pickers at the Blanchard Bluegrass Festival. This free festival begins Friday night with gospel singing then continues all day Saturday with traditional bluegrass music, workshops and jam sessions.

Jurassic Quest

Enid / August 19-21

Bring the whole family to this unique exhibit full of dinosaurs that move, walk around and even play with guests. After interacting with Jurassic Quest creatures, guests can dig up fossils like a real paleontologist or even take a ride on the back of a dinosaur.

Ponca Tribal Powwow

Ponca City / August 25-28

Originating on the Historic 101 Ranch, this 146th annual event welcomes the public out for four days of dancing, food and craft vendors. Bring your folding chairs and sit close to the dance area or score a seat in the original bleachers of White Eagle Park.

Oklahoma Festival of Ballooning

Muskogee / August 26-28

Get ready for three days of fun with tethered balloon rides, food trucks, kids activities, a 5K, nightly balloon glows and a fireworks finale at this exciting event. There will also be live entertainment and helicopter rides.

Maker Faire Tulsa

Tulsa / August 27

Experience a day of creativity with over 150 makers and inventors at this family-friendly, one-day event celebrating everything from technology and education to science, arts, crafts, engineering, food and sustainability.
