(TULSA, Okla.) A strong cold front will move through the area Monday morning, with north winds gusting between 25 and 35 mph in much of the area through the afternoon. Winds will subside gradually Monday night; however single digit wind chills will develop by sunrise Tuesday mainly across northwest Arkansas. After some brief rain chances in northeast Oklahoma Monday morning, dry weather is set to prevail until the weekend. Another push of cold air will bring the potential for subzero wind chills to portions of the area by Wednesday morning near the Oklahoma/Kansas border. Despite the normally stubborn nature of arctic air masses, temperatures are expected to moderate quickly as the amplified pattern aloft begins to break down. Further warming is likely going into the weekend with the southern stream becoming decidedly more active for the weekend into next week. This will include a low chance of rain for southern areas on Saturday with a stronger wave possibly arriving toward the first of next week. Ahead of this feature data remains consistent on a continued warming trend and much above normal temperatures appear likely for the upcoming weekend.
