Primrose School of Broken Arrow delivers 2,148 food items to BA Neighbors

(BROKEN ARROW, Okla.) Primrose School of Broken Arrow on Friday delivered food to Broken Arrow Neighbors as part of its annual Caring and Giving Food Drive.

It was the largest holiday donation so far to BA Neighbors with 2,148 items being delivered, said Gia Patel, owner of the Broken Arrow school.

The preschool helped load the bus with food donations provided by all Infants through pre-kindergarten classroom families to support many other families in need during this holiday.

“While this may look like a simple donation delivery, a lot goes on behind the scenes to make this an incredible learning experience for the children,” Patel said.

As part of Caring and Giving, students participate in activities all month long designed to nurture traits like kindness and generosity and important skills in math, planning, and nutrition to prepare their donation.

Pre-k classrooms in the nearly 475 Primrose schools across the country participate in this “experiential approach” to a traditional food drive each year as part of the Primrose Promise, which teaches children the importance of giving without expectation.

Students are asked to earn donations by completing age-appropriate chores at home during the month-long activity. Using their chore earnings, students help purchase donations for a local shelter or food bank.

Throughout the month, students also learn about how food banks and shelters help the community, why their food donations are so important, and how to continue to help their neighbors.

Each activity supports the main lessons of the Caring & Giving Food Drive: responsibility, community involvement, and giving without expectation.
