(KENT COUNTY, Mich.) The Kent County Sheriff's office is urging people to take any personal belongings out of their vehicles, even when the vehicles are locked.

The advice comes after the KSCO released a report January 11th saying that so far in 2022, 34 vehicles have been broken into.

The KSCO says on Wednesday morning a witness watched as a vehicle in the 1100 block of East Paris had its window smashed open and a purse stolen.

The suspects are believed to be two young men.

According to the KSCO one was wearing a dark puffy coat.

The suspects left the scene in a maroon-colored SUV.

Theft from vehicles has been happening in retirement center parking lots in Grand Rapids Township and at gyms along the 28th St corridor in Cascade Township.

The KSCO says that even locked vehicles have been targeted by thieves.
