(TULSA, Okla.) In 2022, Verified News Network (VNN) spent three months conducting research and talking with Oklahomans about poverty, domestic violence, and drug addiction.

Following the response and results of our inaugural learning series, FATE is returning this spring with a new theme: Trauma Informed Business Development.

It is clear that Oklahomans are living with trauma. The state leads the nation in both incarceration and inequity. Margaret Black, VP of Clinical Services for Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS) in Tulsa, says domestic violence is the highest rate it has been in 20 years. Tulsa specifically is home to some of our nation’s most heinous crimes: The Tulsa Race Massacre and those of the Allotment Era

VNN invites the community to join our FATE Trauma Informed Business Development Learning Series to engage in conversation about the hardships of balancing trauma with entrepreneurship, as well as possible solutions.

Entrepreneurs can join the series online by taking our 2023 FATE Survey here.

Survey respondents will be entered to win a $50 Amazon gift card.

VNN collaborators will conduct research and produce reports on the effects of trauma on the brain and other trauma-related topics as part of this learning series.

Entrepreneurs who have experienced trauma are also encouraged to attend our free in-person event at Coworking Bravely from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm on April 20, 2023.

Secure your free spot at our Trauma Informed Business Development in-person event here.

Food and drinks will be provided at our in-person event, as well as transportation and childcare assistance. Attendees will need to register in advance.

VNN would like to thank our 2023 FATE community sponsors and partners Coworking Bravely, E-Nanny, Carabelle’s Eats & Treats, Healing, Actually, and Broken Arrow Parks and Recreation.

VNN is still looking for community partners and sponsors for our upcoming learning series. If interested, please email Brittany Harlow at bharlow@verifiednews.network
