(TULSA, Okla.) Troopers said two construction workers were hit on the job Saturday morning. We’re told it happened around 8 a.m. on I-44 just east of US-75 West in Tulsa County. Michael Buckner, Jr., 23, of Warner, and Michael Buckner, Sr., 43, of Stigler, had stopped their truck in the lane of traffic and were setting up advanced warning signs for upcoming construction on the collector-distributor road for US-75 when they were hit. Troopers said Vernon Miner, 34, of Tulsa, was driving west while looking down at something in his vehicle and did not notice traffic had slowed for the two workers. Miner then hit a vehicle that had stopped for the workers, and then hit the workers and their truck. Buckner, Jr. was taken to a local hospital via ambulance. Buckner, Sr. was treated at the scene. Miner and the other driver were not injured. Officials urge drivers to use extra caution while driving through construction zones.
