(DURANT, Okla.) The Oklahoma Small Business Development Centers released the following call for tech ideas via an upcoming webinar earlier this week: OSBDC, in conjunction with Kansas SBDC and other states, have an opportunity for Oklahoma businesses to apply to pitch their products in closed-door sessions to government tech scouts looking for innovative products needed by the Department of Defense and other government agencies.  Innovation can include new ideas, new methods, new products, new services, advanced methods, new uses for existing products, etc.    The Department of Defense continues to try to outpace the enemy when it comes to technology. With our enemies always looking for weaknesses, our enemy’s capability to excel in technology innovation can be very detrimental to our country and to our people in uniform. As our country continues to remain a step ahead, the speed of innovation is now such that the entire history of innovation doubles in about one year. This progress greatly outpaces any bureaucracy’s capability to embrace fully all possible innovative advancements.    Oklahoma SBDC believes working with the Department of Defense is a pathway to commercialization and opportunities for Oklahoma businesses and industry. Manufacturing strength is a priority for the United States, and Oklahoma is positioned to take advantage of this opportunity. Encountering Innovations provides a pathway to facilitate fast tracking into government procurement, navigating government bureaucracy, access to databases, information, military testing, and military facilitators and accelerator programs.    The Oklahoma Small Business Development Centers will host two webinar style events on June 19 or June 20 to prepare potential businesses for the upcoming Encountering Innovations event.   The upcoming webinar will include:  · An overview of the event · What to expect · What assistance you will receive from the Oklahoma SBDC as well as Kansas SBDC · Hear from Oklahoma businesses who participated in 2018   · How to assess your readiness to participate · Instructions on how to begin the process to apply and pitch your idea/product/solution Register here: https://business.oksbdc.org/workshop.aspx?ekey=10390027
