Man killed crossing Yale Avenue

(TULSA, Okla) On Monday at about 5:25 a.m., a pedestrian jogger, 85-year-old Richard Irons, was crossing Yale Avenue at 55th Place. He was walking or jogging West across Yale Ave. A south bound Chevy Cruze, with a green light, did not see the victim crossing the street and struck him. Irons was pronounced dead at the scene. Irons was not in the crosswalk according to witnesses and all witnesses agreed that the southbound vehicle had a green light. Witnesses stated the Chevy Cruze appeared to be travelling at a normal speed. Traffic officers arrived and interviewed the driver. The driver was released at that time and no charges are expected. Irons was released to the Medical Examiner's Office. The family has been notified.
