Man arrested after exposing himself near children downtown

(TULSA, Okla.) On Tuesday, officers responded to 1500 S. Denver Avenue in response to a citizen reporting a black male in his thirties at the location with his pants down exposing himself. Officers arrived at 9:31 a.m. and located the suspect in the gated parking lot at YMCA (1503 S. Denver Avenue).  The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. After interviewing witnesses and victims at the location, officers discovered the suspect was engaged in lewd activity while exposing his genitals on the south side of West 15th Street between South Denver Ave and South Carthage Ave.  Two victims were identified and cooperated with the investigation. One of the victims reported the suspect committing the crime with children present in the area and she attempted to stop the suspect from continuing his actions by yelling at him.  There have been a recent increase in sexually motivated crimes downtown over the past couple months and particularly an increase in reported criminal activities in the area of 1500 S. Denver Avenue, mostly involving homeless suspects. The suspect, Dewayne Harris, was booked into Tulsa County Jail on Indecent Exposure complaints.
