Photo Courtesy: Lt. Scott Hampton/OHP (PONTOTOC COUNTY, Okla.) A three-vehicle wreck claimed the life of an Oklahoma City man and sent two others to the hospital Thursday afternoon. Troopers said it happened about 12:35 on State Highway 3W one mile south of Asher. We’re told Stephen W. La Pointe, 45, was driving north when he crossed the center median and sideswiped a semi. La Pointe then struck another vehicle head-on. He died at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, Randall R. Recher, 54, of Newalla, was flown to an Oklahoma City hospital in serious condition. Recher’s passenger, Velma K. Recher, 53, also of Newella, was flown to an Oklahoma City hospital in critical condition. Both were pinned in their vehicle for an hour. The driver of the semi was not hurt.
