Expect a stormy start to the weekend

(TULSA, Okla.) Thunderstorm coverage will increase by this weekend with the best chances for storms being Friday and Saturday. The strongest storms may produce gusty winds and small hail. Locally heavy rainfall will also be a concern where storms train over the same area with a potential of higher rainfall amounts near 6" possible. Some flooding will also be possible, and a flash flood watch may be needed later. The weather should quiet down and heat back up late in the weekend into early next week as the wave moves away from the area. There are still hints that another front will make a run at us toward the middle of next week, but models do not show this consistently enough to put storm chances in the forecast yet.
