Dangerous heat and humidity will continue through Monday

(TULSA, Okla.) An Excessive Heat Warning is in effect from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday for the following Counties:   Pushmataha, Osage, Washington, Nowata, Craig, Pawnee, Tulsa, Rogers, Mayes, Creek, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Wagoner, Muskogee, McIntosh, Sequoyah, Pittsburg, Haskell, Latimer and Le Flore   HEAT INDEX: Maximum heat index values between 110 to 120 degrees are forecast Monday afternoon.   TEMPERATURE: Near 100 Monday.   IMPACTS: The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible.   PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS: Never leave anyone, including pets, in a closed, parked vehicle. Temperatures inside can reach over 150 degrees quickly, resulting in heat stroke and death.   Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency, call 911.   The good news is that it is just one more day of the heat and humidity before a front moves into the region on Tuesday and Wednesday.   Attention turns to late Monday night and Tuesday morning, when a shortwave trough approaches from the west. This will force a front down into Oklahoma which will then be a focus for showers and storms on Tuesday and Wednesday. Precipitation chances will linger for southeast Oklahoma and western Arkansas through Wednesday morning.   High temps will be knocked back down in the 80s to lower 90s beginning Tuesday for areas north of Interstate 40 and for the entire area by Wednesday. This cooling trend will continue through the late part of next week, with temps running near or just a couple degrees below normal.   Monday   Sunny and hot, with a high near 100. Heat index values as high as 110. South wind 5 to 10 mph.   Monday Night   A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Mostly clear, with a low around 77. South wind 5 to 10 mph.   Tuesday   A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph in the morning.   Tuesday Night   Mostly clear, with a low around 71. Northeast wind around 5 mph.   Wednesday   Sunny, with a high near 89. Northeast wind around 5 mph.   Wednesday Night   Mostly clear, with a low around 70. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm.   Thursday   Sunny, with a high near 91. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon.   Thursday Night   Mostly clear, with a low around 72. Southeast wind around 5 mph.   Friday   Sunny, with a high near 91. South wind 5 to 10 mph.   Friday Night   Mostly clear, with a low around 72. South wind around 5 mph.   Saturday   Sunny, with a high near 91. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
