Police investigating after woman beaten to death in East Tulsa

(TULSA, Okla.) UPDATE: Monday’s murder victim has been identified as Veronica Cervantes-Mejia. The victim’s husband, Oscar Mariscal-Lira, 35, has been arrested for first degree murder. ORIGINAL STORY: On Monday at 3:00 a.m., officers responded to 16438 E. 1st St. They found a female victim, 27, who had been severely beaten. She was transported to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Detectives are currently questioning witnesses and family. Some family has been notified, but police are withholding the name of the victim so her mother can be found and told first.
