(MAYES COUNTY, Okla.) Troopers are investigating after a school bus carrying students and coaches flipped over Thursday. ‪It happened on County Road E‬ 420 just east of County Road N 437, about four miles west of Strang. We’re told the driver, Robert Nunez, 28, of Pryor, was driving west when he swerved off the right side of the road twice, then rolled the bus on its side. His condition was apparently normal. Five students between the ages of 13 and 15, along with Steve Barth, 53, of Pryor, were taken to hospitals, treated and released. Three 14-year-olds refused treatment at the scene. Nunez was taken to the hospital by private vehicle, treated for an arm injury and released. Pryor Public Schools thanked the public on social media after the accident, saying in part, “All of our students and coaches appear to be okay. Everyone is being checked out as a precaution but we feel very confident and very fortunate. We appreciate all the support and prayers.”
