OSBI investigating officer-involved shooting in Sand Springs

(SAND SPRINGS, Okla.) The following update is based on an ongoing investigation, which continues to evolve as the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) interviews witnesses and collects evidence. The OSBI’s understanding of the facts and circumstances may change as additional witnesses are interviewed and additional evidence is collected and analyzed. The OSBI has been requested to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred Sunday. This is the latest on the investigation: *At approximately 8:15 p.m. a short pursuit began between a suspect and a Sand Springs police officer. *The pursuit began in the city of Sand Springs and ended in the 5600 block of South 145th Avenue, also in Sand Springs. *One Sand Springs officer was involved in the incident. That officer is now on leave. * The suspect is identified as Robert Desjarlais Jr., age 49. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, and as such, no additional information will be released at this time. Next steps: Once the investigation is complete, a report will be written and submitted to the District Attorney’s office for review.
