(TULSA, Okla.) A Hazardous Weather Outlook has been issued for Northwest and West Central Arkansas as well as much of Eastern Oklahoma, including Muskogee, Okmulgee, Rogers, Tulsa and Wagoner Counties through next week.
Poor visibility is predicted after midnight Monday. Patchy fog is likely to develop primarily across far eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. Motorists should be prepared for rapidly changing visibilities.
The rest of the week looks as follows:
MONDAY...Winter Weather Potential Late.
TUESDAY...Thunderstorm and Heavy Rain Potential.
WEDNESDAY...Thunderstorm Potential and Winter Weather Potential.
THURSDAY...Winter Weather Potential.
FRIDAY and SATURDAY...No Hazards.
Areas of drizzle will develop Monday along and north of a cold front which will become stationary from far northwest Arkansas through southeast Oklahoma. A passing will disturbance will increase the areas of rain Monday night with a transition toward light freezing drizzle possible for locations northwest of Interstate 44. Any icing will be no more than trace amounts on elevated surfaces.
Rain and thunderstorm chances continue Tuesday through Wednesday ahead of another storm system which is forecast to move through the region Wednesday night and Thursday. Locally heavy rainfall will be possible across the region Tuesday through Wednesday.
Even colder air will move in on the heels of this storm system Wednesday night and into Thursday morning. Moisture should be deep enough to lead to a transition of the rain to snow or sleet in parts of northeast Oklahoma. Any accumulations should be a half inch or less and most likely across areas near the Kansas border.
Freeze headlines still look to be a slam dunk for most, if not all, the forecast area Friday morning. A widespread hard freeze looks likely in parts of northeast Oklahoma and far northwest Arkansas as well.
A general increasing trend in temperatures is expected from Friday on.
