(TULSA, Okla.) At around 1 p.m. Friday, patrol was called to Deerfield Estates apartments to assist EMSA with a 2-month-old in cardiac arrest. The child was transported to St. Francis. The child’s mother reportedly left the baby at home with dad, 23-year-old Martrell Thames, while she went to the  store.  When she returned a little while later EMSA was already at their apartment attempting to resuscitate  the child. Dad says he laid the baby down for a few minutes, only to soon find her unresponsive in her bed. Tests at St. Francis revealed the child suffered severe closed head injuries, as well as injury to the torso.  Martrell Thames was arrested on one count of Child Abuse by Injury. The staff at St. Francis are of the opinion that the child’s injuries are not survivable.
