(TULSA, Okla.) Dry and mild weather continued Sunday afternoon, with a strong cold front sweeping through the region Sunday night into Monday. Light rain will develop behind the front Sunday night, and a brief changeover to light wintry precipitation is possible Monday across parts of northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. Accumulations, if any, will be very light. The Arctic cold front will move into northeast Oklahoma after midnight. Areas of rain will begin to increase in coverage overnight. Elevated instability may just be sufficient to support an isolated thunderstorm or two across southeast Oklahoma/west-central Arkansas late. Gusty north winds at 25 to 35 mph likely behind the front with a few gusts to 45 mph possible across portions of eastern Oklahoma where a wind advisory has been issued. Temperatures will likely hold or fall behind the front depending on your location, with the potential for a wintry mix of rain or light freezing drizzle across northeast Oklahoma Monday morning, spreading into northwest Arkansas by early afternoon. Best chance for switch over to all snow is across northwest Arkansas where a few tenths of an inch of snow will be possible, primarily in the higher terrain areas before shifting east by early Monday evening. Bitterly cold temperatures are forecast by Tuesday morning as northerly winds persist with temperatures falling into the teens across northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. This area should also see wind chill indices in the single digits, and possibly record low temps in Tulsa and definitely in McAlester where lows should fall into the upper teens. The unseasonably cold conditions will persist through the remainder of the work week as another surge of cold/dry air filters into the region Thursday into Friday. Low rain chances return by Sunday as the next storm system approaches from the west. Veterans Day Rain or freezing rain likely before noon, then a slight chance of snow and freezing drizzle between noon and 3pm. Cloudy, with a temperature falling to around 30 by 5pm.
