Week begins with snow
OklahomaWeather
(TULSA, Okla.) Total snow accumulations up to one inch are possible through Monday along the Oklahoma, Kansas state line. Light ice accumulations are also possible with the highest totals of up to a tenth of an inch across Osage and Washington counties. Areas of freezing drizzle will develop after midnight across portions of far northeast Oklahoma. A period of freezing rain will be likely into the day Monday with precipitation transitioning to a freezing rain, snow mix along the Oklahoma/Kansas border. The wintry precipitation will shift east of the region by early Monday evening.
Given the above scenario, we went ahead and issued a winter weather advisory for a handful of counties across far northeast Oklahoma. Temperatures will likely be slowly falling through much of the day and any elevated surfaces like bridges and overpasses could become slick and hazardous. There could also be a brief period of freezing drizzle across northwest Arkansas, however amounts appear less certain. The main wintry precip should begin to shift east of northwest Arkansas early Monday evening with only a few lingering flurries possible.
A slow warming trend is still expected through much of next week with highs temperatures possibly warming into the 60s by Sunday. The trend continues with a slight chance of rain showers on Friday in association with a compact upper low that will move across during this time frame. Otherwise, a dry forecast is expected.
