City announces Town Hall series to hear from public on police chief hiring

(TULSA, Okla.) Mayor G.T. Bynum announced Wednesday that he and the Crime Prevention Network will hold three town halls in January focused on receiving public feedback as part of the search for the new Police Chief of the Tulsa Police Department. The public forum comes after current Police Chief Chuck Jordan announced his 2020 retirement. The forum is meant to hear public feedback on how they would like the search to go and what they would like to see in Tulsa’s next police chief. “Hiring the next chief of the Tulsa Police Department will be one of the most important decisions I make during my time as mayor,” Mayor Bynum said. “It is important to me that I hear from my fellow Tulsans what they hope to see in and from our next Chief of Police.” Crime Prevention Network, a local nonprofit that provides valuable crime prevention education and safety awareness, plays an important role in providing services like Alert Neighbors, Crime Stoppers, Generation Txt and Safe Escape. “With safety as a priority for Tulsa Crime Prevention Network, we are thrilled to co-host the public discussions for Tulsa’s next Chief of Police with the City of Tulsa,” Crime Prevention Network Executive Director Karen Gilbert said. “We encourage those who value Tulsa to be a safer place to live, work and play to attend the town hall meetings.” Below are the list of meeting dates, times and locations: Tuesday, Jan. 7 Hardesty Library 8316 E. 93rd St. Frossard Auditorium 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8 Rudisill Library 1520 N.
