First week of winter brings fog and warm temps

(TULSA, Okla.) A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued until 10 a.m. Monday for the following counties: Osage, Washington, Nowata, Craig, Pawnee, Oklahoma, Rogers, Mayes, Creek, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Wagoner, Muskogee, McIntosh, Sequoyah, Pittsburg, Haskell, Latimer and Le Flore. Areas of dense fog will continue to develop Sunday evening into Monday. Visibility will be reduced to a quarter mile or less. Portions of east central, northeast and southeast Oklahoma and northwest and west central Arkansas will be affected. Visibilities are expected to be reduced to less than one quarter mile by the dense fog, creating hazardous driving conditions. If driving, slow down, use your low beam headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you. Forecast thermal profiles show significant warming Monday, and any locations that see sun for most of the day should easily warm into the mid or even upper 60s, while morning fog will hold temps below their potential. Unseasonably warm temperatures, gusty southerly wind, and dry conditions will result in elevated fire spread potential Tuesday afternoon. A small decrease in wind speeds Christmas Day will reduce that some, but temperatures will once again be much above normal, with low 70s definitely possible both days.
