Suspect arrested in shooting of 1-year-old

(TULSA, Okla.) Javontay Jones has been arrested in the shooting of a 1-year-old child. The 24-year-old mother of the child had gotten into an argument with the suspect, Javontay Jones at Worthington Townhomes 11813 E 21st Pl. Both the mother and the suspect left the area. Shortly after that the suspect and the mother crossed paths again at 2900 S. Garnett. She said Jones just walked up and she asked him to not shoot her since her child was in the car. There was an verbal exchange between the two then the suspect, Jones, began firing into the vehicle, striking the child in the head. ORIGINAL STORY: Tulsa Police Detectives are looking for 27-year-old Javontay Jones in connection to the shooting of a 1 year old infant from 2900 S. Garnett on Thursday. Jones is described as a black male, 5’9, 180 lbs, with dreads. At 4:25 Thursday, officers were dispatched to the Urgent Care, 2929 S. Garnett Rd for a young child who was the victim of a gunshot wound to the head.  The mother was hysterical and was saying that the shooting had taken place at the Meadows Apartments, 2800 S. 116th EA. Officers arrived there and secured a scene in the parking lot. Witnesses gave varying accounts of the shooting.  Apparently, shots were fired at the victim’s vehicle by a black male suspect. One of the rounds struck the 1-year-old child who was secured in a child seat in the rear passenger seat. Currently officers are actively searching for the suspect who left the scene in his vehicle.  Witnesses, including the mother were transported to the Detective Division for interviews.  The victim’s vehicle was left at the Urgent care by the mother.  She was taken to St. Francis Hospital in another vehicle.  Currently the victim is in surgery, condition critical. Crime Prevention Network will pay a cash reward up to $1,500 for information which results in the arrest of fugitives and/or individuals responsible for committing felony crimes.
